Adding some Shine!

Hi It is Wendy here again. it is my turn to show you some fabulous WOW chippie and another technique for altering it.
Usually I like to keep my chipboard pieces fairly plain (usually coloured in black), but this time i really felt like making them a little fancy and adding some shine to them. I recently purchased some liquid pearls and thought that I would muck around with them.

Here is a close-up of the bird altered with platinum liquid pearls from the ‘Small bird Set C999’

and another close-up of the “Vine Set RWL 367”

Inspiration Post --- from the Design Team!

Hope you are all having a great weekend. I have been super busy organising my son’s LEGO birthday party (pictures coming soon to a layout near you…LOL)

This week the DT have made some very Pretty layouts, so lets start with mine.

Wendy has used the “Heart banner C1434” and the “Small Heart Banners C1435”, both colours in with felt pens, and then layered. the larger heart banner has faux stitching around each heart done with pen.

Susan has created this CUTE layout again with the ‘Small Heart Banners C1435’ which she has also coloured with felt pen, and has edged using a white pen. She has also used the ‘Kisses’ word from the title piece “Hugs & Kisses RWL 363”.

Sandra has created a CUTE girly layout, and has used the “Fancy Gate1 C1396”, and has misted it with several tones. She has also used the ‘Winter Tree Birds RWL832’.

Kellie has created this gorgeous family layout, I love the colours she has used…pretty! She has used “Geometric photo Corners 1 C1008” and has inked them brown and has also used a bird from the ‘Small bird pack (C999)’ and painted it orange.

Gilly has created this spectacular double layout. To create the effect on the ‘April Flourish C1109’, Decorative flourishes C1298’ she has coated them in Vintage Glitter Glass.

Emma has created this gorgeous white washed background layout, and has used “Kayla Flourish C1175” and a corner flourish and flower all painted in pink.

Here are some words from Niq about the layout:

“On this layout I've used the saying "Boys Will Be Boys" C1447. I've embossed the saying with Opals - Lemon Thyme, then added some Chalk Ink to alter the colours slightly to match.
I've also used Cog Frame Set C819 - Inked with Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire.”

This week Lisa has created a beautiful feminine layout with these pastel papers and the cute cluster of flowers.

Product Used: Heart Banners C1434

The hearts have been coloured with marker, then dots added to the edges for a little more interest. I have wrapped seam binding around the bunting to soften the bunting.

upside down chipboard

...yeh that's right, ever thought about turning your chip upside down!

Hi San here
....I'm going to share a page I have done, using a chipboard title by WOW, upside down, as a shadow of its self.

This page is of the five boys playing cricket in the backyard after Max's (my baby nephew) birthday lunch....It was fun attempting to use my new camera to get some action shots.

So what i did is very simple, but i think quite effective as a title.

I used the 'cricket' chipboard as a mask, turning it upside down and then misting with Mr Hueys Calico mist and when it was dry removing it, then I have coloured the chipboard with white oil pastels.

To add highlights to the chipboard I have used a pale bue pastel and added it here and there with my finger tips, and then used a sharpie to make the stitching effect, like a cricket ball, then also taking that highlight effect to the shadow.

The bat, ball and stumps are coloured with textas.

I really loved this effect and think its worth a try, even with a fancy flourish or flowers. Masks are great to enhance your base pages and then to add a mirror image is a great effect too.

So...give it a shot

Little Lady layout & The NEW AltaMATZ Video.

Hi, It's Gilly here, I had a play with the new My Mind's Eye papers last week, I love the Shabby Vintage Distressed look in this paper range, I was thinking about putting a bird cage on this layout until I found this cute RWL9174 Little Lady Title .

I covered the words in a coat of Liquid Pearls, then put a little bit of the liquid pearls into a bowl and added a small amount of water, which turned into a glaze, I then gave the lady silhouette 3 coats of the glaze and added a piece of feather trim as I skirt.

I also used the glaze on the paper doily to add a bit of colour.

This tag is on the top left hand side of the layout, I just wanted to add some journaling.

I have also had a play with the NEW AltaMATZ and made a video using them with a little tip to help with misting, Hope you enjoy the video.

Riding the Boozer....

Good morning ladies!!!

Kellie back with you today to share my latest page with you. The first piece I have used on my page is the 'Dozer' C736

To colour the dozer, i sprayed the whole piece with glimmermist then used a thin black sharpie to fill in the detail........

The next piece I used was one of the circles from the 12 x 12 Circle frame set C828. I simply covered this piece with decorative tape..... SO easy and effective!

Here is my finished page:

You may be asking 'Boozer?'... WELL earlier in the day, we told Harry he could ride the dozer, then later in the day he piped up "I wanna ride the boozer."... very amusing!

One into two

Hi Susan here…
I have to be blunt I am not the greatest fan on big chipboard pieces … they really don’t suit my style of scrapping at all… I find they tend to dominate my pages and draw the attention away from the photo… SO… this week i have decided to challenge myself … and prove to those of you who are of the same opinion as myself about larger chipboard that it can really work well with a little alteration… well not alteration in the tradition sense… more trimming.
For my 2 layouts here I have used the same paper range (a 6”x6” pad actually), photos from the same day and one piece of chipboard… to create these 2 very different layouts.
The WOW chipboard piece I have used is the ‘Cog border C1202’ which in its unaltered state is 12” long… I have trimmed it down into 2 pieces …so I hope it has given you food for thought as it is very effective on white space layouts and great value for money to use it this way too.. which is always a good thing.
On “Grandads tracks” I have also used ‘MINI BUTTERFLY PACK C1052’…

Multi-toning your chipboard

Hi Girls….it is Wendy here, just thought I might share a layout i have done with your with a colouring technique.

We probably have all coloured our chipboard in a single tone, but have you ever tried multi-toning?? Multi-toning is were you create a blended effect on your chipboard with 2 or more colours.

I have used:

-Flame Border C1115

-Wing Pack 2- Boyish C1303

-Skull Pack 2 C993

-Crazy kid title C1093

On this layout I have used red, orange and yellow to create flames on the chip. I just used the red on the bottoms edge, and then the orange and finally finished the tips off with yellow texta/pens!

on the flaming wings, I have misted over it with Calico Shine mist to give it a shimmery effect

Enjoy playing around with colours on your chipboard....it is fun!

Faux Metal Distressing With Two Little Girls.

Hi It's Gilly here. On the school holidays Milly had a friend over to stay and I thought "Photo Shoot" as any scrapper does. So the girls got changed into matching coloured dresses, I got my camera ready, and off we went into the garden.

I took quite a few photos so you will be seeing more, it was really nice to take photos of a little blond haired girl, letting me use more yellow than normal.

I wanted to use something playful on this layout and the C768 Pennyfarthing Bike was perfect, playful and old fashion.

I created the bike using what I like to call 'Faux Metal Distressing' to create this look you need:

Embossing Powder,

Embossing Ink Pad.

Distressing Tool,

Heat Gun,
And A Paint Dabber Or Paint and A Brush.

yes… we have been at it again! Creating with the fabulous products at WOW, and getting our MOJO on!

First off is Kellie…she has used a cute little decorative frame inked in blue and Classic Alphabet Uppercase-C1384

Look at the details in this layout by Sandra…terrific..she has used the ‘love You’ heart RWL54, and lightly misted it red

Susan has managed to pull off a spectacular black and white layout and has used the ‘12x12 Cog frame set C819’ and the lower case alphabets, both have been inked jet black

Wendy has done a slimey layout using ornate flourishes, including ‘Chloe Flourish C1182’ which has been lightly inked in purple

Emma has used a gorgeous ‘mini butterfly pack C1052’, an ornate frame and lower case alphabets in this sweet layout

Gilly has altered this cute “Money Box Off the Page M131”..doesn’t it look cute!

here is what Monique said about this layout

"Year 2" - I used the School Kit C1166, and painted the corner pieces to make a frame for my photo. I then added a bit of black ink to take away the "newness" of the painted pieces.

Lisa has fun making this layout and has used Flourish Tags C1307; Classic alphabet uppercase C1384 and lowercase C1385

Crepe Paper Technique

As it's Valentine's Day tomorrow, I thought I would scrap a page of my fiancee Matt and I.... who doesn't love to document pages of their loved ones?

On my page I have used the title... "When I think of love, I think of you" (C1275)....

I have used a brown and aqua marker on the chipboard, then to make it POP i added some crystallina Kindy Glitz to the words 'Love' and 'You'.......

FLOURISH ORNAMENTAL

It’s Susan … and I have a little technique for altering your chipboard to share this time.
For my layout I have used the FLOURISH ORNAMENTAL - Product Code: C176 and have used a reverse embossing technique. To get the same effect you need follow these steps.
1. Colour your entire chipboard piece in permanent ink or pen (I have used a permanent marker in black for mine.)
2.Run your chipboard piece through the Cuttlebug (or simular machine) I have used a large polk-a-dot embossing folder for mine… use this upside down so the dots are pressing in rather than raised.
3. Using versa watermark ink cover the raised area with the medium and then sprinkle over with clear embossing powder
4. Melt the embossing powder with a heat gun and set aside to dry.
5. Spritz with Calico Shine (Mr. Hueys) and wipe over with a rag to expose the glossy areas.
Hope you like the technique it is super fun to do and gives your chipboard an aged effect. Here is my layout and a couple of close ups for you… and YES it is an old school negative strip on the page circa 2003ish…if you have one I challenge you to use it on a layout soon.

...and so excited

hey all...San here for my first 2012 post for WOW.

I am so excited about what new wonderful designs that WOW are starting to make, also how good is this new dt and inspiration teams...too exciting to be part of such a great Aussie company.

So to start the year, I am showing a new WOW title, that I have used with photos of my POD fishing just before christmas this year.

I found some awesome acyrlic paint crayons at my local craft supply store and i have been having heaps of fun with them. The crayons are lushious and thick and cover the chipboard beautifully and they can also be used lightly, as i have done to highlight the edge of the word 'sinker' on the title.

As I do....there are circles, I love the chipboard circle sets from WOW, so many different sizes and they can be used in so many ways. Here I have used dimentional paint and added dots around the edge of the circles and then used a heritage ink over the top.

I have printed the photos in 2ups, so i can add more shots of his fun day at the lake. Added a circle of silver brads and used A lil something banner . I have also added a loop of wire and a cute pin.

It is hard when scrapping boys sometimes to find suitable embellishments, circles work for me, try a few yourself and find ways to make them yours!

Just thought I would share with you some of the projects that our Inspiration Team have been creating lately with the fabulous chipboard here at WOW.

Here are some words straight from Monique as to how she created this layout!

“Precious Boy I've used the Vine Set RWL367 and the Alphabet - Block Capitals C1388. I painted them with white paint, then used some Tattered Angels Glimmerglam to blend the pieces into the colours of the layouts.”

Lisa has created this beautiful Family layout with Vine Set RWL367. Look at how she has used 2 colours blended to alter this piece….clever

Kaitlynne has used one of the birds out of C996 Bird pack Of 3 and one of the many decorative flourishes available, and has altered them only just slightly with some brown ink to give them a shadow effect.

Step by Step

Hi Guys it’s Em here sharing with you a step by step of a layout I created using some beautiful WOW chippy. A simple way of dressing up your chipboard is to ink it or colour it in, its quick and easy and mess free, this is all I have done to my WOW chippy for this layout.

My Chipboard pieces for this Layout -

Classic Lowercase alphabet (C1385), Decorative Fence small (C1246), Small bird pack (C999), Scroll 13 (RWL131)

1. start with your background paper & trim the brand strip off.

2. Using a stampin up spritzer and a texta spritz onto your background paper. (or you could use mist etc)

3. Cut pattern paper 18.5cm x 17.5cms with a torn bottom. Distress & ink edges

4. Adhere to background paper roughly 4cm from left side & 7cms off the bottom.

5. Distress edges of photo with sandpaper and adhere onto pattern paper

6. Ink fence chipboard & adhere below the photo

7. Ink Scroll, outline with white pen & adhere on top of fence

8. Adhere flower on to the flourish

9. Colour bird and adhere to fence opposite side of the scroll

10. Colour alphabet letters & adhere where you want it, I have chose to pop it on the bottom of the fence.

11. Complete rest of title with alphabet stickers, I have used October Afternoon.

12. Add Journal block & Journaling

13. Finish off the layout by adding a couple of embellishments to the scroll cluster, I have used some flowers and a charms creation doily

Here is the finished layout.

I hope this has shown you that simple & easy can be just as effective as messy & complicated!

Wet Distressing Chipboard

Hi, It's Gilly here,

I was playing with a chipboard bird cage the other day and found a new technique to use, I like to call "Wet Distressing".

I've filmed a little You Tube Video to show you how easy it to create this look.

I used: C303 Bird Cage With 3 Birds and C999 Small Bird Pack

I love the distressed and rusty look of the bird cage.

For the birds I covered then with a coat of liquid pearl, which I applied in a swirling action, added some diamontes for eyes and a piece of lace trim for the wings.

Wendy has used the ‘Little Monster’ title and scalloped border on this layout

Susan has used the lowercase alphabet, chipboard heart, flourish and Linda Baldock leaves on this bright and funky layout

Sandra has used an ornate frame and a leafy vine on this cute layout

Kellie has used a gorgeous heart flourish on this layout, and has altered it with pink and red paint and cute little polka dots

Frame it...

Hi, it's Susan here. For my blog post this month, I thought I would share a step x step post on how to utilize some of the gorgeous frames available from WOW. I have kept my layout quite simple so as to accentuate the Ornamental Oval Bird Frame (RWL100014) I have used.

Step 1: Separate all the pieces of your chipboard. WOW ensures your chipboard wont be damaged by leaving it attached at a couple of points to the backing board when cutting its images... so you will need a craft scalpel or knife to cut these areas and release your design.

Step 2: I have coloured my chipboard pieces using markers (any brand will do so raid your kids textas if necessary). This piece has gorgeous ornate designs lightly etched into the wings so I have highlighted them with the black for effect.

Step 3: Cut around your photo to fit the frame and stick them together. I used a hot glue gun but any other adhesive will do the trick.

Step 4: Decorate the background of your cardstock with stamping ( I have used my favourite stamp the Kaiser texture grid stamp… I have 4 of them) then spritz over the top of your stamping with a spritzer tool and marker. Stick the frame down slightly to the right of the page.

Step 5: Embellish your page with some flowers concentrating the cluster close to the bird to tie the layout together… add a title and date and you are done.

Close up: Here you can see the gorgeous design on the wings of the bird and how the 3d effect is created by the layered chip pieces.

I hope this has inspired you to try a layout without patterned paper and letting this gorgeous chipboard be the focus of your layout.

Hi Scrappers, Kellie Daley here today to share a page with you all...

With Australia Day only days away, I thought I would scrap this photo of my son Sam using some gorgeous WOW chippies!

I decided to go with the colour scheme blue and red (some people may use green and gold). Sam
spotted these tattoos in the supermarket and who was I to say no :)

And some close-ups........
On my chipboard I have used markers- a great way to decorate your chipboard as they make no mess, so for scrappers who are not into paint or mists, this is a great alternative!!

Check out what Monique has done with the Cogs on this layout. She has used them as a mask for her misting and inking, as well as altering the little cogs with crackle paint…they look fab.!

Gilly has spun her shabby chic magic on this layout, and has used the gorgeous ‘My One and Only’ title, and a vintage lamp post.

Kellie has done a beautiful job with the ‘Mad About You’ title piece…love that effect with the faux stitching.

Well hello there!
It is a new year at WOW and I am stoked to be asked back to do another year with Suzanne and the gang. Loving all the new Chipboard designs and excited about the new team who are going to be bringing you bigger and better ideas and showcasing this magnificent product!
There are a lot of different techniques you can use on chipboard from distressing to embosssing to using different mediums to cover it, but I always like to keep my altering to a bare minimum and KISS(Keep It Simple Stupid).
My favourite thing to do is to just colour the chipboard in black with a permanent marker, but lately I have been experimenting with a different colour. RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For this layout I have used:

-Classic Lower Case Alphabet

-Linda Baldock Design mini leaf pack
-Picket fence

For this layout I have used:
-Family Time title piece
-Chloe Flourish

So when you are about to use some chipboard on your layout, try keeping it the main embellishment focus and K.I.S.S. your WOW chipboard!

Sandra lives on the South Coast of NSW. She is married and has one POD. She has been scrapbooking for over 8 years now, and just loves the creative outlet. Her style is eclectic with loads of layering and a little bit random. She loves playing with new product and trying out new techniques. Chipboard gives her the opportunity to experiment with loads of different mediums, and she loves the versatility of WOW chipboard. She is also the owner of Scrapbooking Delights ... please go and visit her!

Wendy lives in Launceston TASMANIA with her DH and their 2 boys Charlie and Angus. She has been scrapbooking since she fell pregnant with Charlie in 2004. Scrapbooking to Wendy is not only the art of keeping memories, but is also her creative outlet. Wendy describes her style as masculine, with a feminine touch, layered, and clustered that capture everyday moments!

Gilly is a mother to Milly 7 (Amelia-Jane), wife to Ben, scrapbooker, best friends to Renee (Nay) and works at Fred The Needle a scrapbooking shop Penrith NSW Australia. Renee and I have been best friends since we first met in 1998 working in a newsagency in Bowral and she got me into Scrapping in early 2005, and ever since we have been scrapping LOs and OTP about our life family and friends. Yes our children are Scrap abused and they smile at every camera which is pointed at them, lol. Gilly has also recently become a Girl Guide Leader in her spare time!!

Emma is 30 years old and is married with 3 children, Isabella who is 5 and my boys, Jordan 4 and Jett who is 2. She has been with her husband for 12 years and they have built a gorgeous little life for them selves in Tasmania. She has been scrapbooking for about 8 years and still loves it as much as when she first started. She loves surfing the net for inspiration and doing challenges from all the great challenge blogs out there. She loves using inks, mists and distressing and loves trying new techniques. She is so stoked to be on the WOW team, as she loves the chipboard, always new things coming out the variety is huge. She looks forward to sharing her creations with you all.

Kellie currently lives in sunny Brisbane and has 4yr old twin boys Harry and Sam. She started scrapbooking back in 2002, but became more 'obsessed' after the birth of her boys. She usually loves to scrap with brighter papers and loves to use layering, ink and CHIPBOARD on her pages! She sources inspiration from online blogs and galleries, and from the photos themselves. She looks forward to her time on the WOW design team and hopes she can inspire you with our gorgeous range of chipboard.

Susan is a stay at home mum that seems to be busier now than when she was in the corporate sector. She has a fabulous family...2 gorgeous children... coming to a layout near you soon! And a fabulous man who gets her hobby and supports her product addiction. She has been scrapping for almost 8 years now and has had a fabulous time doing so. She has been fortunate to be on quite a few Design Team, had countless publications in most of the magazines and the opportunity to teach at one of the paper festivals. She is also co-owner of a handmade embellishment business ... A Lil' Somethin' and her "real job" currently is as a professional face painter. She loves to create and finds chipboard elements add a little extra to her projects so is thrilled to be embarking on this year with WOW chipboard... hopefully she can inspire you to source and use these amazing products along the way.

Lisa lives on the South Coast of NSW, with her hubby Andrew, their two lovable ratbags Seth and Emeline, and fur-baby Marley. Lisa began scrapbooking over 7 years ago when her son was a baby, as a way of documenting his first year. Lisa likes to mix up lots of different patterns on her layouts, with no colour off limits. She always includes handwritten journaling on her pages, and loves to include clusters of embellishments, including chipboard. Scrapbooking brings together all of her loves...playing with pretty papers, photography and documenting her family stories.

Kaitlynne is 26 years old and is married to a wonderful man Justin. She loves living on the south coast of NSW, and couldn't imagine life anywhere else! Scrapbooking has been a hobby for around 6 years and it seems she gets more into it as each year goes by. Late last year she even got her own scrap room! She would describe her style as clean and simple. She likes to use coordinating patterned papers, mists and string! She also loves chipboard as it is so versatile and can come in just about any shape, style or word you can imagine. So needless to say she is super excited to be apart of the WOW team for 2012. She looks forward to sharing her work with you!

Monique lives in Mackay on the Tropical North Coast of Qld. She is married with one 6 year old boy, who is the main subject of my scrapbooking. She started Scrapbooking about 6 years ago, when Connor was about 6 months old, had a break for a couple of years then really caught the bug... and hasn’t stopped since!! She is usually doing something scrapbook related every day – for her it is her down time, a creative outlet and a fantastic way to record family moments. She finds it really really hard to describe her style... It is very eclectic, and she usually just goes where the mood takes her. She tend to use lots of layers and distressing, and her layouts usually end up looking shabby, grungy or vintage. She loves experimenting with different techniques, and usually uses lots of mists, paints or inks.

Our team also still includes our lovely and extremely talented Product Designer - Linda Baldock!!!

Linda is a West Aussie mixed media artist, living creatively in Sydney (but only for the next 6 months) until she moves back to Perth!! Linda travels all over Australia sharing her experimental style at workshops, shows and retreats. Her product designs are seen regularly in scrapbook and craft publications.

Linda will be teaching next at the Art Is You - The East Coast Art Retreat in Sydney on the 15th - 18th March 2012.

We hope our new Design and Inspiration Teams inspire your scrapping this year and can't wait to see more of their work.

Christmas With Circles!

Hi, Happy New Year!
I started scrapping my Christmas photos this week, I wonder how many more years my daughter is going to sit on Santa's lap for, now she is a real pro. The photographer took 3 photos, which she was smiling in all of them and Santa only this one. When the photographer said "that was easy" I followed by saying "She's scrap abused" lol!
I don't know if he knew what I meant but he did laugh, he properly thought what a weirdo!

Over the Christmas break I was given a box full of goodies to play with and one of the items that I fell in LOVE with is the 12x12 Circle Set Frame C828 you can do whatever you like with these, cover, paint, stain, glitter, emboss, you name it.
With Santa's list layout, I used the outer frame piece of the set.
1. Cut and push out the circles from the middle of the set.
2. Paint or Ink the chipboard frame.
3. Glue some vintage style lace or in this case an old table cloth to the frame and cut out the middle and around the edges, leaving over hang.
4. Add extra inking to distress, rubbing over raised parts.
5. Use Liquid Pearls around the circle, making dots as you go.
Note: Tap the back of the frame on to a desk top, so that the small dots don't have peeks.

Love this October Afternoon Holiday Style.

I also used: 2D Flower Pack.
1. Which I inked first in red.
2. Then embossed with red Christmas embossing powder and heat set.
3. Make rosettes in different sizes, large 12x1.5 inches and small 6x.75 inches.
4. Attached rosettes to back and the front of the shape.
5. Added some baker's twine, buttons and hat pins.

This is another layout I did using the 12 x12 Circle set, and I have 15 more circles to use in the set,
so I'm sure you will see more.

Well this is our last post for 2011! Onwards and upwards to a bigger and busier 2012 for the WOW team I say!!

Our new Design Team will be announced on the 15th January 2012 so don't forget to visit and see who our new Design Team is. We are also having a Creative Inspiration Team this year who will help keep you all inspired to use chipboard on your pages.

We also have a big promotion starting in February 2012 which will run for two months. Details will follow early in the New Year. This promotion is to help promote our retailers and get WOW out there!! There will be prizes involved and I know how much you all like free chipboard!!!! It is definitely a case of gotta be in it to win it!!!

ONE LITTLE BIT MORE WOW...

Well Christmas is done and dusted...I hope you all had a good time, I sure did, you cannot beat the looks of children when they open their presents, and the giggles and squeals that come with it! Anyway, let's talk chipboard! For my last post I will share some layouts which are my last projects for WOW.
What I have loved during the last 6 months is playing with chipboard, it is so versatile!
In this layout I used something that had been stashed away in my cupboard and that I had been scared to use, Metallic gellato, it was so easy to use and it looks great on my circle frame and arrow!

On my next layout I just covered another arrow with matching paper, there again a very easy technique.

And lastly, on this Christmas layout, I had to use the newly released title "Unwrapped", for this I just coloured it with a green marker and added white glitter on the presents.

Hi, it's Tina here, with my last post as a design team member for WOW. I can't believe the six months is over already. It's been an honor to be on the team with such wonderful, talented, and inspirational ladies. A huge thank you to Suzanne for believing in me, and for creating such fabulous chipboard for us to play with.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, I certainly did. But I must admit I was exhausted after all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, and preparation for the day.

I've got a few things to share with you today.

I embossed the Angel Blowing Trumpet, covered it in Gold Leaf, and added some gold Stickles.

I painted the "Christmas Morning" title with Smooch inks, and added some glitter glue in similar colours.

I haven't completed a layout for my next title "Night before Christmas", as I still need to print my photos of the tree and presents from Christmas Eve. Once again I used Smooch and coloured various words. I blended the colours on "Christmas" from dark to light to dark again.

You can easy create this effect with inks, paints, or watercolour pencils.

I wanted to share a canvas I made for my daughter as a Christmas present. It has so many layers of mists, die-cuts, rub-ons, tapes, paints, and was heaps of fun to make. I used some Petite Alchemy Blooms and an Ornamental Flourish (which I cut up) , misting and painting them.

Hello and a Happy Thursday. Today is my last blog entry as part of the WOW Design Team. I have had so much fun being part of this amazing and talented Design Team and working with such a great product and I thank Suzanne for allowing me this opportunity. While it is sad for me I am looking forward to seeing what Suzanne has instore for WOW and am looking forward to continue creating with WOW chipboard.

For my layout I have used these beautiful gates:

Firstly, I inked the top half of the gates:

Then using a lighter shade of ink I dabbed the bottom half blending both colours in the middle to give a graded look.

I inked the edges in black to blend the chipboard in with the rest of the layout. Next I covered the chipboard in glitter varnish.

Countdown to Christmas ....

It is very sad :'( for me to be bringing you my final blog post today as a DT member for WOW. I have had a wonderful time over the last 6 months working with such fantastic products and I sincerely thank Suzanne for believing in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity. I was a WOW fan long before I joined the team here and will continue to be for a long time to come.

Today rather than a specific technique, I thought I would bring you a ‘mini showcase’ of layouts providing you a little more inspiration for your Christmas pages using the wonderful WOW chipboard.

In just a week from now the silly season will be all done and dusted for another year and while the rest of the family amuse themselves with their new gadgets and games maybe then, us crafty mummas can sneak some time out for ourselves. While the visions of happy faces and full bellies are fresh in our mind it’s time to get those happy memories down on paper.

Using Candy Cane shape and Christmas Eve title. Title decorated with ink, silver gel pen and rhinestones and Candy Cane decorated with a mix of inks, textas and gel pens.

I hope I have given you a little inspiration to pull out those Christmas photos and get scrapping!

Not long to go until Santa visits....are you ready for him? Have you got his favourite snacks? I'll give you a hint......Santa told my three last year that his favourite drink is pineapple juice as it's quite hard to get at the North Pole. After a long night, I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

To help Santa locate his snacks in amongst all of the decorations, I've made a simple sign using WOW chipboard and a simple white frame from the cheapy shop.

I started off inking the chipboard with white ink. Then I used textas to colour it in. To jazz it all up I've added beads as cookie sprinkles and bling to the tree. I cut patterned paper and placed behind the glass and added my message to the front of the glass. My children love it and it's all set up ready for the big night.

As this is my last blog post for the wonderful WOW I'd like to thank you all for visiting. I know that I'll continue to be a WOW ambassador as the products are amazing and so easy to use.

Mistakes with Chipboard Can Be Good

Hi Everyone,

I created a canvas with a picture of my boys but wasn't initially happy with how one of the Chippy pieces came out, so I just layered up an came up with this.

I initially used distress ink (tumbled glass) on the Boy Tattoo 4 Chippy. I lightly touched some of he edges with fired brick to give a bit of depth, inking is my favorite treatment of chipboard. I then covered it with UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Powder) and heat treated the product.

Next I took the Our 3 Sons title and used a variety of Faded Jeans, Fired Brick, Barn Door and Tumbled Glass Inks and randomly stamped over the Chippy. I then gave my usual UTEE Treatment. After laying the chippy and photo on the canvas background (which had been randomly painted with alcohol inks), I was not happy with the colouring. So I then white inked over the UTEE, then when that was dry I distress inked with tumbled glass, and applied UTEE again. When the heat gun started to melt the UTEE this time, cracks began to appear and the first layer of inking showed through. I continued to force dry and got this beautiful distressed look to the chipboard.

so even if you are not happy with the initial outcome of your chippy, you can add another layer of products and come up with a totally different look.

Christmas Bunting!

Hi, Christmas is coming so fast, it seems like it was only August for me, when we moved into our new house, maybe because it's so cold at the moment, I'm thinking it's still Winter lol!

This week I created a Christmas Bunting to hang on our fire place, which if the cold keeps up we have it going at Christmas time.

This blog post was due yesterday morning, sorry about the delay, I was very upset as I filmed a step by step on how to create this bunting, but I doesn't want to work on you tube, so next week I'll re film it and then post it.

For these Cute Christmas Stocking Bunting,

I used: 3 pieces of papers to cover,

2 pieces to create the rosettes,

3 metres of lace,

Micro Beads,

Kindy Glitz,

Border Punch,

File Set,

Hot Glue Gun

& Score Board.

I was thinking about adding some hat pins as well.

I'll keep working on the video so please keep your eyes out for it.

Decorative Backgrounds and your WOW chippies!

Sometimes I like to really mess up my background cardstock, and sometimes and I like to leave them plain. Just a few different techniques I like to use are misting, masking, negative masking, stamping, inking, painting, scrunching, distressing with sandpaper….but the list is endless.

Here are a couple of Christmas layouts with different background techniques:

-this layouts I have used a Kaisercraft background stamp with ‘olive’ ink, and also used some corregated cardboard to create the cross-hatch markings

-I have altered the Chipboard piece with white Mr Hueys’s mist, and some glitter paint

-for this layouts I have used a pre-used mask moistened with a water spray bottle, and used the mask itself as a stamp. Gives a great grungy look

-to alter this chipboard, I have used texta to colour the individual baubles and then sprayed over Mr Huey’s “Calico Shine” mist

So why not be a bit daring with your flat cardstock and give it a bit of life. Play around, get creative and have fun…it’s only paper after all!

Hi everyone

Well the countdown to Christmas is now on so I hope everybody is working on their Christmas projects!! Me not so much :(

I did manage to actually scrap four pages and do an off the page frame whilst down at Scrapbooking Delights last weekend! Amazing!! I got lots of advice from Sandra and Wendy. Here are two of my pages and my OTP frame. The Christmas page was the class that Wendy taught and the "bubbles" page was scraplifted from a layout Wendy did for a page kit for Scrapbooking Delights. Wendy gave me lots of advice for the frame too. Thank you Wendy and Sandra I had a fantastic weekend with you girls. Wish we could do it every weekend (although not the late nights!).

Almost a Christmas baby

A few (not too many) years ago there was an empty little cot under the Christmas tree. I was due on Christmas Day, but thankfully I was 2 weeks late. So I am "almost a Christmas baby".

The photo is really sweet and soft and the beautiful filigree chipboard tree matched perfectly.

A pretty little chippie like this doesn't need too much embellishing or it'll get overpowered. I simply mounted it on some paper, covered it in white crackle paint and added a few highlights with Perfect Pearls:

The star got the glamour treatment with red glitter all over it. A charm sits on top:

The "Funky Christmas" title suits that 70ies feel just fine (yes, I am that old):

I painted it white, inked the edges and outlined it roughly with a pen:

And finished it off with some bootie charms:

I have loved Christmas ever since!

VINTAGE CHRISTMAS WITH WOW

Hi All Wow Fans,
Thanks for coming by today! I am here to share something vintage. I was sent this beautiful RW lasercuts designs Christmas Frame ,I knew what I wanted to do with it straight away! It has so many little details it was quite amazing to work with! I thought I would use a printer's tray design as it is quite fashionable at the moment, I would then be able to use multiple photos. I also wanted to create with what I had on hand, I did not want to buy any more Christmas paper, this frame is so Christmassy that you do not really need to use Christmas papers.
So here is the final layout, I will give little explanations on how to achieve some effects as I go:

1) COLOUR:
To colour my chipboard I used Alcohol Markers, 3 shades of Browns for Santa and the tree of elves.
What I like about those markers is that they absorb the colour and they blend nicely, you don't end up with rough strokes.
I also used glitter for the star, Santa's beard and costume and the title. It is very simple, I used a glue pen and sprinkled my white glitter over it, the glue pen is great because it has a little tip it is great for little detailed areas and it does not end up everywhere on the rest of your page. Here are a couple of close ups of the colouring:

2) DESIGN
As I said earlier I used the printer's tray design. How I achieved this is by doing as little bit of measuring and stitching, I mainly used the design of the chipboard to draw my rectangles, and I also needed to be able to fit my photos. I hand stitched of course for a neat look:

The rest of the layout is quite simple, lots of punches everywhere and 4 photos. I hope I inspired you to use some different colours in your next Christmas layout and of course I hope I inspired you to rush to your local WOW stockist to get some beautiful Xmas chippies! Here is a last close up:

Does anyone remember flock?!

It seemed to be all the rage a few years back. I guess the fact that it's a little fiddly and not always easy to get a nice application have steered people clear.

I don't let anything go, much to my husband's dismay ;) so when I received this cute Santa's Sleigh (RWL455) I headed for the deep and dark depths of the scrapping cupboard to dig out my flock :)

I began by colouring in the chipboard with various mediums including; gel pens, textas and twinkling h2o's. I was also sure to give the area I would be flocking a coat, just in case of any 'bald' spots.

You can see with the sleigh and Santa that I have used a black texta outline to give detail to the area. Something that is so simple to do but adds such a great effect.

Now I will say straight up that I am certainly no flocking expert but I have found that the easiest application and the best result was achieved with a glue pen. Nothing too wet like a gel as it just gets all gooey and lumpy. Spread an even layer of glue, sprinkle on the flock and then gently tamp it down with a clean, dry finger. Then simply tap off the excess and leave it to dry. Be patient .... poking and prodding, no matter how tempting, will only cause your flock to fall off!

Here's the whole piece all flocked up. I also wrapped some twine along the reins for some extra effect. A little fiddly getting it all in place but definitely worth the effort. A red rhinestone for Rudolph's nose up front, cause we all know it was he that saved Christmas, and then little silver sparkly noses for the rest of the gang at the request of my 4 yr old, who insisted that all the reindeer HAD to have noses!

And here's the page I used the finished piece on. Not the best photo in the world but a precious memory none the less. We were excited to be able to visit many of the award winning Christmas Light displays last year. At this particular house they had a replica Santa's Sleigh you could take photo's in.

Also don't forget that WOW now also cut all of the RW lasercut designs so remember there are plenty of Christmas designs from them too.

More fun with Christmas chippy

Hi, I'm back again as promised. I wanted to show you how I decorated the Love Christmas Tree.

First I painted the tree gold. Then in a small plastic container, I started adding all sorts of "STUFF". About a tablespoon of Modge Podge, a sprinkling of gold and sand coloured glitters, some chunky German Glass Glitter in copper, and some clear Microbeads. Mix well.

I applied the mixture randomly, with it thicker in some areas. At this stage I had absolutely no idea what it would look like!

As it dried, the glitters started to show through.

And here's my completed layout. I used Teresa Collins new range of papers, and Martha Stewart scroll punch, and Spellbinders dies.

It's very sparkly in real life, I added pearls to the punched border and Christmas tree.

Fun with Christmas chipboard!

Hi, it's Tina here with a tutorial for you.
I had a ball, playing with this gorgeous Christmas chippy! I pulled out lots of different media, pens, inks, paint, and other "stuff" and started layering. I started with the wonderfully detailed Christmas Stocking and the Candy Cane. I painted them with white paint, but only lightly so you can still see all the details. (The white background will make your colours brighter.)

I outlined the details with Nikko pen so it wouldn't run/bleed when I added water-based paints.

I added Iridescent Medium to the white parts of my candy cane and stocking.

I coloured various sections using glitter pens, and Copic markers (keep this away from the Nikko pen)

I added Smooch to other areas.

I added Smooch ink, & Diamond Dust.

And added Dimensional Magic to highlight certain areas.

I have another tutorial and layout for you which I'll post tomorrow (otherwise this would be the longest post ever!).
I hope you've been inspired to have some fun colouring your chippy.

Christmas Card Designs

Christmas is a great time to get crafty and make lots of handmade cards and goodies. And WOW chipboard is the perfect addition to anything you make. Today, I wanted to share some Christmas projects I made using WOW chipboard. I made some cards, a gift tag, a bonbon and paper stocking. Here are the projects I made - beware, this post is photo heavy :-))))

And now for some close ups :)

For this card I used the title 'Merry Christmas' from the 'Mixed Christmas Card Words' and a bauble from the 'Christmas Card Embellishment Pack':

I painted the chipboard and applied some glitter. I painted the title red but used green glitter for contrast:

For this card I used 'Christmas Stocking' and the title 'Joy' from the 'Mixed Christmas Card Words'. I used markers to colour both in carefully and then I put glitter on the mouse to make it stand out and on the title:

Here I used 'Christmas Flowers' which I coloured using markers and added some sparkle using rhinestones:

Here I used the very cute 'Goofy Reindeer':

For the last three I used the 'Christmas Charm Pack' which I have to admit are my favourite. These are so adorable. Here's Father Christmas, I also used the title 'Ho Ho Ho' from the 'Mixed Christmas Card Pack':

For the bon bon I used the very, very cute reindeer, he got a little red glittered nose:

Beautiful Reindeer

Have you checked out the great range of Reindeer that are available from Words or Whatever yet????

There are over 20 designs of Reindeer, including numerous cute cartoon reindeer, reindeer's with sleighs, reindeer ears, sets of reindeer and lots with beautiful antlers like this Silhouette Reindeer (Product Code: C1362)

For this little fella, I have pulled out the distress Inks, in Honey Oak and Sage and the smallest bit of Barn Door, then dry brushed some cream acrylic paints in places to give the mottled effect. After applying two coats of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE), I applied some pearls to add a bit of Bling to his antlers....and of course a red nose.

Here is the complete LO, a picture of two of your boys at their favourite christmas place.... the dining table.....

I have also added the awesome Christmas page border called "World Wide Christmas" (Product Code: C1372),

This border had the same treatment as above, only with extra of the red, and I also added a white acrylic paint dry brushed in parts.

Why not head on in to your local Scrapbook Store and ask them if they already have these wonderful products or request them to order them in for you.

Christmas bling!

Christmas has well and truly arrived at WOW. All the inspiration for Christmas pages is fantastic and I hope you are all getting your fix!

I've had fun playing with quite a bit of WOW chippie lately to get in the festive spirit. Today I am going to share with you the gorgeous Curly Swirly Christmas tree I blinged up.

To start with, gold emboss the entire tree like so:

Then to get the bling started, have a play with some Gold Stickles. I have highlighted parts of the tree.

And then finished off the bling with some red rhinestones....

And this is the finished product on my layout....

And while everyone is in the festive mood, here's another Christmas idea just for fun!

For this layout I have coloured the Candy Cane with Twinkling H2O's. The snowflake stamp has been embossed in silver and pearl glitter embossing powder. A close up for good measure......

Sleigh Bells Ring Are You Listening?

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
On the layout, glitter glass is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're scrapping tonight,
With all Christmas Chipboard in Wowland .

Yes it's that time of year where we are all very busy making Christmas Cards and handmade Christmas Gifts.
I usually wait until Dec to start using Christmas papers but this year I thought I would do some layouts coming up to Christmas, as sometimes you just run out of time in Dec.
In this layout I used: New Christmas Flourish.
which I displayed on: 12x12 Page Display Stand M183

Step By Step for Christmas Flourish
1. Paint the Flourish with Tim Holtz Brass Crackle paint, dry with heat gun or leave to dry.
2. With a paint brush cover the stars with pewter Liquid Pearls, you can also dry brush some of the flourish with liquid pearls around the edges, then leave to dry.
3. Colour in the tree with a pink marker, then apply a coat of dimensional magic, then sprinkle Glitter glass or glitter over the top, shake off excess glitter then leave to dry.
4. Wrap some ribbon or glitter twine around some of the flourish.

Step By Step For Display Stand
1. Paint the stand in white paint or I like to use Gesso as it gives a matt look,
2. When the paint it dry sand parts back to give it a distressed look,
3. Coat parts of the display frame with Dimension Magic, then sprinkle with Glitter glass or glitter, shake off excess and leave to dry.
Note: you can paint a different colour on the other side of the stand so you can change the stand to suit the layout.

FRAMED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not very often do I get a picture with me and the whole family in it, cos someone has to take the photo, right?!

So, when I set the timer and placed my camera balancing precariously on the rocks down at the beach, I wanted to capture a nice family shot on a glorious sunny day….and I did it! it turned out terrific and I loved it so much I knew I had to FRAME IT!

I chose to use the decorative MDF frame, with a heap of prima flowers to decorate it!

First thing I did was spray the background MDF with Glimmermist in Turquoise

I made some larger ‘flicks’ and ‘splats’ on the second coat to give it a bit more dimension

Then I adhered an inked piece of Bo Bunny paper on the base.

Then I put my photo where I wanted it, and adhered a misted circle frame

The next step was to start decorating. I chose flowers and embellishments in complimenting colours, like kraft, cream, brown and teal. I also misted a flourish to compliment the background frame.

I just layered on more and more flowers to really decorate the cluster in the corner. I also sliced out a couple of edge pieces of the circle so that the ledge would fit back in place!

Final step was to put on the ledge and some floral chipboard pieces, then accentuate with a black pen for defintion

I added some Prima pebbles to the flower centres for more depth and dimension

Here is a close up of the final clustering!

and finally……VOILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…. a treasured memory…FRAMED!

Christmas is coming…

…and what do you get your child’s teacher year in year out??

If you are anything like me, you have done the choccies to death, done the mugs and the stationary, gift vouchers and wine. Hmmmmm..they can be tricky those teachers, but you want to show your appreciation for all their hard work they have put in to your little devils all year!

This year, i came across these Cork message boards on Clearence and thought that they would look great altered and individualised for Teacher’s presents for Christmas. I decided to use some of the large WOW chipboard pieces that I have been sent in my DT kit, as i often struggle to use BIG chippies on layouts. I have altered the chippies with felt pens and Glimmermists.

I have made 3 Message Cord Boards so far….!

This 1st one is for my son Charlie’s Prep Teacher Miss Millen. I have used some fun colour combinations to reflect her personality, and I have used feminine accessories.

I decorated one of the ornate trees with mists and white pen, and also used the decorative Owl as a stand out piece on the project.

For the Second Cork Board, for my Son Angus’ Kindergarten teacher Mrs Lade, I have gone with a more traditional colours and school theme.

I have painted the letters and numbers from the boarder piece with paints, and outlines with a Sharpie pen and black versa ink.

For the 3rd Cork board, for my friend’s daughter’s teacher Mr V, I have one with a fun and cheeky look.

I have used the little aliens and a large ornate tree on this one. Colouring with glimmermists and a black Sharpie pen. Altering the tree with buttons to represent apples, and I have put pearls on the aliens eyes!

So if you are looking for a fun and creative present to give your child’s teacher, why not consider something like this. You could also alter diaries and notebooks, stationary sets and pencil cases, or get a nice picture of your child and alter a frame with some WOW chipboard pieces…the options are endless!

Countdown to Christmas

November is Christmas month here on the WOW blog. The WOW website is full of lovely Christmas items for you.

Lucky me gets to kick things off with this gorgeous Reindeer.

First of all I inked the reindeer with silver ink. I coloured in the delicate antlers with a black sharpie.

Next, I used a paint brush to apply wet glue to the shape, carefully avoiding the lovely detail in the centre. I then sprinkled super fine glitter over the shape and tapped off the excess.

Of course I had to pop on a red jewel for a nose!!! Who doesn't love Rudolf x

I wanted the reindeer to stand out on my layout, so I mounted it on some black cardstock.

This is an easy peasy technique to add lots of sparkle to your Christmas crafting. Make sure you give it a try, whether for cards, off the page presents or layouts for your Christmas albums.

An Owly Wrapped In A Doily????

Hi, I just LOVE Owls so when I saw this new design from Wow chipboard's I knew I had to have one, a lot of my Owls I have are male so I thought I would create a girly girly Owl, which I've been told is now for my daughter's Milly's bedroom door.

I used: Owly LB044

1. Use pattern paper to cover the back of the Owl,

2. Paint the front Owl and eyes with a white pearl paint.

3. Glue the 2 parts together,

4. Add the eyes, I put some circle pieces of paper under the eyes first,

5. Put dimensional magic into the parts you want to cover with glitter, then sprinkle glitter,

6. Spray an old doily with Glimmer mist, dry, then cut in half and glue to the sides of the owl, (as photo)

7. Add some Kindy Glitz to the wings of the owl.

8. Find a place to put Owly on show.

Note: if you fold the doilies at the back of the Owl they sit up a little, also drying the Glimmer Mists with a heat gun makes the doily harden a little.

Next I have a layout of my daughter in the garden being cute, see knows how to use the camera lol!

I wanted to create a rusty look with the chipboard word and colour the branch.

I used: Flower Branch C195

Adore C1068

1. Spray chipboard word and branch with Glimmer mist,

2. Put both of them through the Cuttlebug machine, I used script embossing folder,

3. Cover chipboard with embossing clear ink pad, then sprinkle puff embossing powder over the top,

4. Use a paint brush and brush off parts of the embossing powder,

5. Then use a heat gun to set the embossing powder,

6. Use a paint brush and dip it in an open bottle of Glimmer mists, then paint it onto the top of the puff embossing powder, I used pink for the flowers and green for the leaves and a little bit of all the colours on parts of the word.

7. When dry use an file on the raised parts of the word, for a distressed look.

8. Cover the word, the flowers and leaves of the branch in Dimensional magic, leave to dry.

9. When dry add bits of kindy Glitz to the flowers on the branch.

GUEST DESIGNER - HOLLY CONNORS

We are lucky enough this week to feature a guest designer - Holly Connors from Queensland.

We sent Holly some chipboard and mdf to see what she could come up with and she has blown us away with her projects.

Our large 12 x 12 Page Display stand on which Holly has used crackle paint to create this finish.
