Evening scrappers!!!!

Thought I'd post tonight as I will be out all weekend with my children.  Hope the weather is better where you are than what we have - again it's cold and overcast.  Where has spring gone???  I don't really like summer but I would prefer the weather to be a bit warmer than it is at the moment.

Using Lots of Paint...

Hello everyone :) Liz here with you this sunny spring Thursday. Today I wanted to show you a couple of simple layouts showing how 'tough' WOW chipboard is.

For this first layout I used the absolutely beautiful Tall Clock. I firstly painted the clock, the body in teal and the face in white. I then applied crackle paint onto the body and dimensional magic onto the face. (On a side note, I just love how good the details are on all the WOW chipboard. I painted the face but the details on the clock still showed up perfectly :)))))

I then wrapped ribbon around it and using liquid glue I stuck flowers onto it.

This is the finished layout.

For the second layout I used new release Arrows. I wanted to paint the arrows but found the paint I wanted to use was quite thin and didn't cover the chipboard as well as I wanted. If this happens a little tip is to first cover the chipboard in white paint. Let it dry and then paint in the colour you want. Keep painting the chipboard until you get the look you like letting the paint dry between each layer.

Here are the arrows all painted and pretty - I used a total of 4 layers of paint, the white and three layers of colour.

As you can see I put many layers of various types of paint, glass finish and glue onto the chipboard, wrapped it in ribbon, drew on it and still it remained like new. It never lost it's shape, split or buckle. WOW chipboard is made to last and handle anything we put it through and as all our designers have shown - we put the chipboard through a lot :)))))

.... to chop it!

I received this gorgeous flourish in my DT kit that just screamed "garden arbour" to me from the moment I saw it. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous piece of chipboard, but being that it is 12" long it was just a little large for what I had first envisioned.

I simply used my craft knife to remove a small amount of the scroll work from either end. I then used my sanding block to tidy up the cuts a little and smooth the edges. Here are the 3 pieces I ended up with.

To turn them into "wrought iron" I simply inked them with some Versa Ink in Charcoal. It's the perfect colour as it is not quite black and has the tiniest grey-green tinge to it. I also had some leftover spear picket fence from another project so I inked that up as well. Here are the pieces ready for my page.

Here is the layout I used the pieces on. By adding some strips of cardstock as "posts" as was able to create a garden like scene complete with wrought iron arbour and fence. I have used the smaller pieces that I cut off the main flourish as some addition "scroll work" on the fence.

So next time you are working with your WOW remember that it doesn't always have to be exactly what it is.

Good morning!!

What awful weather we have been having where we are.  I'm over rain as well as over school holidays!!  Thankfully school goes back on Monday!!!

Monster Truck

 You may have seen on the weekends Inspiration Post, the Monster Truck Album.  I have a couple of special little friend who just ADORE Monster trucks, so I asked Suzanne over at WOW, if she could create an album for me in MDF to alter.  This is what I came up with.

Today I thought I might share a little on how I completed this. Firstly I covered the wheel centre with clear acetate (transparency sheet), then used texture paste to build up the tyre, and while that was still wet, I sprinkled black glitter over it, and allowed to dry.

The acetate became the cover of a shaker box inside the wheels,

I painted the fronts of the album pages with silver acrylic, and the backs I attached patterned papers, and decorated the wheel centres.

Next, I painted the Screw Head Set (C978) and Small Tool Set (C1086) with the silver acrylic, added some mod podge to the tool handles and dipped them into different bright glitters, to give defined handles....just like 'dad's tools'. 

The screw heads got some heat treated embossing with a African Gold embossing powder.

 These tool sets and screw heads are great embellishments to any project.

Flower power!

Happy Monday everyone! For a lot of us it's a holiday Monday and I hope you're all getting some scrappy time in.  Today I'd like to share an easy way to pretty up your WOW chipboard using flowers.....well petals to be exact. 

I've used three different sized white flowers to decorate these gorgeous WOW chipboard angels wings. First of all, ink your chipboard the same colour as the petals. Next, cut out the petals from the flowers.  Starting from the bottom and using the chipboard shape as a guide, glue the petals to the chipboard.

I worked on both wings at the same time to ensure consistency.

You just need to keep building up....and up....and up....and you'll end up with some beautiful fluffy angel's wings.

The Dream a little Dream title was coloured with brown versacolour ink and a black sharpie. I love how detailed WOW's titles are.

You can use this technique on many of WOW's shapes. I've also 'feathered' this lovely peacock.

Using the same method as the angel's wings, I inked the chipboard first. Then starting at the bottom, I added the feathers.  I didn't have the green that I wanted, so I inked white flowers.  I added jewels to the peacock and coloured in his eye black......voila!

Another easy, yet effective, way to jazz up you layouts!

Hi everyone

Sorry we haven't had our weekend inspiration posts for the past couple of weeks.  I was away on a retreat for one and then have been flat out with orders and machine breakdowns!!!  Very frustrating but we are back and bigger than ever!!!
