Thursday Tute with Tracey Henly

We are working with Prima butterfly papers on this layout.

3 x white paper flowers
heidi swapp raspberry colour spray
large and small retro flower punch
stampendous aged rose embossing powder
clear embossing ink
distress ink tim holtz aged mahagony
stickles fruit punch.

Spray your large square frame with the raspberry spray and set aside to dry.

Heat emboss the butterfly heart and border with the aged rose embossing powder.

Heat emboss your title of choice in aged gold embossing powder.

I have fussy cut out some of the graphics from this paper range to use as accents. eg. the fairy and the butterflies.

cut your mats for the photo one 7x6, one 7 x5, one 5 x 8. pick the colours that suit your photo as they are double sided.

layer your pieces and mat your photo, raise your photo with foam tape or chipboard scraps.

with your scrap papers punch 1 large retro flower  and 4 small. Assemble flowers using bling brads for the centres.

assemble all your accents to your liking. I added stickles to the flowers to give a liitle more sparkle.

Have fun creating.

Here are couple of recent layouts I have done as classes at Pages2scrap.

If you are in the area come and see me.

Don't forget our monthly challenge there are prizes to be won.

time flies when you're having fun

For those who don't know me I am a mixed media and experimental techniques artist and I just love getting my hands dirty! I love all things rusty, aged and distressed and you will see a lot of that in my work. I'm really fortunate in that I get to travel all over Australia sharing my art and ideas.
I'm a freelance artist and am thrilled to do some product designing for WOW, which you can see HERE
Some of my designs may seem a little odd but they are created with the daring artist in mind.

It's no secret that I love  to play with chipboard and here I am with some lovely Words Or Whatever pieces...

To create these elements you need:
  • black acrylic paint
  • old book page
  • rust coloured acrylic paint
  • gold metallic paint pen
  • black ink pad
  • ink applicator (latex makeup sponge)
  • vintage photo distress ink
  • PVA
  • silver metallic paint pen
  • Cuttlebug/Big Shot embossing machine & embossing folder

"Time Flies"

  • use the same faux rust technique as I have on the clock and frame.
  • torn and inked strips of book pages make great arty feathers to create wings.

  1. paint frame with gold paint pen
  2. emboss frame
  3. swipe frame over black ink pad to highlight embossed pattern
  4. squeeze a small amount of rust coloured paint on to a palette and use your finger to roughly dab and tap the paint onto the surface
  5. cover back of frame with book page
  6. use silver pen to colour clock face
  7. use gold pen to colour clock frame and hands
  8. dab rust coloured paint over frame
  9. when dry use ink applicator to blacken edges of the frame and a little over the surface

  1. paint black
  2. when dry smear a little silver paint over the surface roughly
  3. emboss
  4. swipe across teal ink pad or paint
  5. swipe across black ink pad
  6. ink edges with sponge and black ink

have fun, make a mess!
