Kerryn's week - Taking in the view

Today is the final post for my DT week here on WOW blog.
I hope you have enjoyed it and have taken away a few ideas to try yourself when grabbing that next piece of chipboard.

I thought I would wrap up my week with 2 simple techniques I like to use to decorate chipboard, nice and easy with very little mess. Now that doesn't happen very often.

The first page is my son checking out the view from the Adelaide Showground ferris wheel.
He gets really nervous when the ride first starts, I don't think he likes the going down part, but once we get to stop at the top and he can enjoy the fabulous view, he usually comes around.

I pulled out a pair of brackets from the WOW Bracket set when I started the page. I had decided to use them to create a frame around the smaller photos to highlight the view that we could see.
They were inked with pinecone ink first, but they didn't really stand out on the page that much.
So I grabbed a small texture stamp and some Gold Brilliance Ink and lightly stamped each bracket.
It made a great difference to the page and added some highlights to the chipboard pieces.
The best thing was, it was done in seconds.

The next page is about a funny incident that I captured while the boys were having a kick of the soccer ball outside. I was taking a few snaps when I suddenly realised the ball was coming straight for me.

The page features more texture stamping and then I have also added the simple touch of using Liquid Pearls to decorate the chipboard. I have used Classic Alphabet in uppercase to put together my two part title.
The first part has been covered with black ink and then decorated with red Liquid Pearls.
Simple small dots added to each letter.

Part two has been inked with Red Brilliance Ink, stamped with black ink and a checker plate texture stamp and then finished off with some Glossy Accents.

Kerryn's Week - For you Mum

Good morning crafters, I am back again to share another project with you today.

The photos used on this page were the leading inspiration from the very start.
They were taken on Australia Day last year. My son was the 'Sparkler Artist', while I played with the manual settings on my camera. He was very impressed with what he had created.

I have used the smaller heart from the 2 pack of Doily 6 Hearts to tie in with the theme.
The bare chipboard was covered with a thick layer of Diamond Stickles and left for 24 hours to thoroughly dry. This is an important tip when using Glossy Accents or even Dimensional Magic on top of glitter glues.
If the Stickles or Kindy Glitz doesn't dry properly, it can cause the glossy finish to go cloudy or it can form ugly cracks. Trust me, I have learnt from experience LOL!
Once I was happy the Stickles had dried, I did a thick coat of Glossy Accents and put it in a safe place to dry and started putting the page together.

I really loved the finished Heart, especially seeing it sparkle in the sunlight.

Just for you Mum

I will be back tomorrow for my final share for the week, hope you can drop in.

Kerryn's week - 2 beautiful creatures

Welcome to the blog today

One of our school holiday trips this year was to visit Monarto Zoo while my sister was here.
It's our animal sanctuary here in South Australia, based just 40 mins from Adelaide. We had a fabulous day with the extended family and knowing what chipboard was in sitting my stash, I was already planning a scrapbook page by the time we arrived home.

You see, I have been patiently waiting for the perfect photos to to use this little fella, the very cute Baby Giraffe WOW166

Baby Giraffe

I have relied on my trusty ink stash again.
I gathered together a few different colours to bring the giraffe to life.
A few shades of brown, orange, mustard, gold and bronze. Then it was a matter of playing and layering.
The base colours were a mixture of mustard and orange. I have used dark brown ColorBox Ink to colour the feet, tail and horns and then used it to add highlights to the tops of the ears, the mouth and cheeks area and right around the edges. The final layer, a coat of Glossy Accents, worked a treat!
The chipboard was backed with brown cardstock to give the giraffe his spots.

The title was created using Block Alphabet in lowercase, it was lightly swiped around the edges with pinecone ink, a simple finish.

Kerryn's week - Chillin

Yep it's me back again with another page to share.

Today's chipboard has a very simple finish to it, I have used it to frame the photo and the majority of the page so it really didn't need a lot of decoration.
I taken the largest star from the WOW chipboard 12x12 Stars.
I have covered with Brilliance Ink in Red Rocket Gold and left to dry, that's it. Simple but effective.
This ink gives the chipboard such a fabulous shimmery finish, I love it!

Photobucket

I have backed the star with patterned paper that co-ordinated with the page.
The photo wasn't quite what I thought I had taken as my gorgeous little niece turned away at the last minute, but I think it still captures their beautiful connection.

Thanks for dropping in, hope to see you again on Wednesday.

Kerryn's week - In the Beginning

Morning Crafters!

Today is the first of many posts this week that I will be sharing with you here on the WOW blog.

I hope that I can inspire you over the week to either head to your craft desk, grab your WOW chipboard or AltaMATZ and get crafty or at the very least, go to your LSS and stock up on your WOW supplies.

I am really excited! I have so much to share this week, but I 'm just not sure where to start?
Maybe I should start from the beginning of my latest chipboard scrapfest.

Incase you didn't know, I love to mix different mediums on my chipboard, it is very experimental stuff and sadly they don't always work out how I pictured things in my mind.
And yes, there have been a few disasters.
But with this particular piece, I was actually pretty happy with the end result.

So the idea started with the Flame Border WOW 1115

I created the first layer using 3 different ink colours, red, orange and yellow.
The perfect colours for the flames and they blend well on the chipboard.
I started inking with red at the base of the flame and I slowly worked my way up to the tip of the flames, orange next and then finishing with the yellow.
The next layer was done with a simple patterned stamp and some gold Brilliance ink. I randomly stamped the image in the lower part of the border, mainly the red and orange, to give the darker section a few highlights.
Kindy Glitz Chrystallina was added to the top third of the flames as layer number three and left to dry. Love this layer, I think it added a little flicker to the flames.
The final touch was created using gold embossing powder and it was only added to the very tips of some flames. Both the Kindy Glitz and embossing powder helped to give the chipboard some dimension.

So what do you think? Pretty HOT looking LOL!

And it just so happens I had the perfect photos in mind to scrap. All I need to do was to chop the border up into 3 pieces to put the page together. My base cardstock has been misted using the 12x12 Checkerplate AltaMATZ ALTA068.

That's it for today, thanks for visiting.
I had a heap of fun putting this page together, it is always nice when your ideas come together.
I hope you will be able to tune in again tomorrow to see what else I have been doing.
