Thursday Tute with Tracey Henly

We are working with Prima butterfly papers on this layout.

3 x white paper flowers
heidi swapp raspberry colour spray
large and small retro flower punch
stampendous aged rose embossing powder
clear embossing ink
distress ink tim holtz aged mahagony
stickles fruit punch.

Spray your large square frame with the raspberry spray and set aside to dry.

Heat emboss the butterfly heart and border with the aged rose embossing powder.

Heat emboss your title of choice in aged gold embossing powder.

I have fussy cut out some of the graphics from this paper range to use as accents. eg. the fairy and the butterflies.

cut your mats for the photo one 7x6, one 7 x5, one 5 x 8. pick the colours that suit your photo as they are double sided.

layer your pieces and mat your photo, raise your photo with foam tape or chipboard scraps.

with your scrap papers punch 1 large retro flower  and 4 small. Assemble flowers using bling brads for the centres.

assemble all your accents to your liking. I added stickles to the flowers to give a liitle more sparkle.

Have fun creating.

Here are couple of recent layouts I have done as classes at Pages2scrap.

If you are in the area come and see me.

Don't forget our monthly challenge there are prizes to be won.

Altered Ornate Shadow Box

Hello there!

Tania back with you today to share this quick and easy photo tutorial on how I altered one of the WOW Chipboard Ornate Shadow Boxes - M15.

Once I had assembled my shadow box I mixed a little bit of one of my Dylusions sprays (aqua based) with some Gesso.  With a large sponge I applied it to my shadow box quite thick, when it was almost dry I gave it another coat. As you can see it gave it some great texture.

I then used some Ken Oliver Color Bursts to give my shadow box some colour.  I just love this product, lots of fun and looks awesome.  I chose purple for this project.  I sprinkled the Color Burst randomly over the shadow box and then spritzed it with water until I was happy with the colour......How easy is that??

I finished off my shadow box with some New release chipboard - Dangles and one of the "Love This" quote from the Fun-Multi Word Pack WOW2457 which I sprayed with Dylusions sprays and lastly added lots of yummy blooms.

Here's a couple of close ups.

I also wanted to share a couple of other projects I made recently using some yummy WOW products.
I created this first layout for White With One's new challenge. Butterfly Elements WOW1858, Hanging Heart Flourish WOW2287,  Fun-Multi Word Pack WOW2457  and the 6 x 6 Moroccan Stencil ALTA138.

My second project was created for Off the Rails latest Mood Board Challenge.
I have used a New Release "Summer At The Beach" WOW2466 Chipboard Title on this one.

Well that's all from me today.  I do hope you have enjoyed the projects I have shared with you today.

Be sure to check out the Website for products and stockists and our new WOW Creations Facebook page. Can't wait to see your creations on there using all the gorgeous WOW products.

Until next time,

Tania xx

Layout Tutorial - The Perfect Summer Day

Hi WOW friends,

Its Elisa here again with my latest share on the blog, a layout I created with lots of gorgeous WOW products which can be viewed on the WOW Website and a bit of bling and I know we all like a little bit of bling.... Right???

Plus I felt the need to use my favourite colour combo.... teal, gold and sepia.

So to start with I painted a thin layer of gesso on my page so that the cardstock can cope with the weight of my layering. Then I used a gorgeous 12x12 Altamatz called ALTA247-Netting with modelling paste and palette knife, waited for it to dry and stuck on my chipboard pieces - Sea Shell Pack , and whirlicious flourishes and medical gauze as you can see in the photo below. I covered all my layers with a coat of gesso.

I then started to add my colour with Colour Blast Shimmer Sprays (once the page was wet with spray I tilted the page back and forth to create drips). Once dry I added an extra layer over the top with Colour Blast paste through a Altamatz - 12x12 Mixed Background producing those lovely lines and bubbles. Colour Blast products produce such gorgeous shine!! After another marathon drying session ;-) I stamped with a sepia versafine ink with a sea bubbles background stamp from Indigo Blu, it happens to be one of my fav's and added some 'Bling' Colour Blast Spray by dipping a fan brush in the spray bottle and flicking it onto my page.

I also embossed a couple of square chipboard pieces - square frames in a gold tone embossing powder - I made sure that it was not a smooth coverage of embossing powder that it had a rough pitted look to it as I sprayed with a teal coloured shimmer spray over the top, this looks amazing....the teal colour lodges in the grooves and rough edges giving the embossed chipboard a two toned metallic effect, another great way to add colour and shine to your chipboard.

In this photo you can see the stamped sea bubbles but also the finished effect of the square frames and the added title - Wood Veneer - The Perfect Summer Day and a few real sea shells my sons have collected from our local beach.

Love that teal and gold shine on the chipboard and wood veneer, looks amazing.

Don't forget a couple of gold shimmer spray splashes to finish it off!!

Medical Gauze is a very cheap way and versatile way to add layers to a mixed media project. It can be dyed, painted, sprayed and it can also handle texture paste and heavy layers.

Well that's it for me today, thank you for popping by the blog and I hope that you enjoyed the tutorial. Remember to jump on over to the WOW Creations facebook page and share your creations with us.

Elisa Ablett :-)

I thought to finish I would share a sneak peek of my next WOW creation, due on the facebook page in the next week .... hope to see you over there.

A share, and sadly, a goodbye :(

Hello everyone!
Sandra Wallace here with you today.

As the  title suggests, this will be a post where I share some of my recent layouts using some fantastic WOW products and, sadly, be saying a farewell to you all as a WOW DT member.
Life is getting a little bit chaotic at the moment (you know how it is)  and I feel quite sad to be leaving the DT after such a short time.
A big thank you to Suzanne, Tracey and the rest of the amazing WOW DT.
I was made to feel very welcome and loved being part of the team.
I still have a LOT of WOW products in my stash (Suzanne is VERY generous to us girls) so I am sure you will see me popping in to the
WOW Creations Facebook Group quite regularly as I share any new creations using WOW ;-)

My first share is my layout using the current January Challenge as inspiration.
I loved the yellow, orange and pink hues.
I used
The Decorative Circle Frame
Leaf Pack 2
Tribal arrows
and the altamatz in the background is the 12 x 12 4in1 design

I spray painted the chipboard with matte white spray paint (so quick! and gives great coverage)

***Removed for Publication****

and here is the challenge that the clever
Tanya Froud came up with.. hope you can  play along!

My second share is of the layout I did for the December "Wanderlust" Challenge over at Kraft Plus Challenges
I used the WOW World Globe
I simply painted the globe and house black and then swiped them with a bit of gold ink.

My last share is of the layout I created for Kraft Plus January challenge (as you can see, not much happening production-wise in my scrap room)

For this layout I used
the bottom bit of the
Straight Picket Fence
Tribal arrows
Cogs
and the 12x12 4in 1 design Altamatz.
I altered the chipboard by painting them white and then "dabbing" them with texture paste, paint and black flecks of paint.

Well, that's it I suppose.
Although my stint with WOW was brief I really enjoyed my time with WOW.

Thanks again everyone .. and see you over at
WOW Creations!

Take care of you

Sandra Wallace.
xx

New Dream Catcher

Hi WoW peeps, welcome to the New Year, here's hoping it's a ripper!

Today I'm sharing with you an awesome off the page piece, a 12" diameter MDF Dream Catcher I have altered as a gift for my boy when he turns 21 this year. I love how this turned out, let me show you how I did it.

I started by adding lots of colour (Dylusions and Perfect Pearls), inspired by the beautiful water colour challenge this month
(see end of post). Once dry I inked all the inside edges black with a Copic marker.
I used  a 12" x 12" white card to mop all the wet colour up and stuck a piece of black card to the back of it. With the black facing forward and the colour-on-white facing back I glued it to the back of the dream catcher and trimmed off the excess, sanding around the edge for a nice finish. I sprayed the front with lots of gold shimmer to make it shine, and it does :-) I also added the challenge quote using a Motex labeller which has a nice art-deco font. I removed the lower panels with a craft knife (and sanding with a file) to allow for feather hanging space.

The back was also inked with a black inkpad and sprayed gold.

The 3 MDF feathers that came with the dream catcher, along with a few real (white) ones were also given the same colour treatment. I coloured some of the white feathers with grey to add some contrast. They all got gold shimmer.

To attach them to the dream catcher required a little ingenuity, I wanted it to look clean and stream-lined so this is what I did....
With a fine line of liquid glue (Tombow Mono-Multli - green) I stuck the string (also sprayed gold and dried) along the shaft of the feather. I covered the join with a strip of co-ordinating washi tape. For the MDF feathers I threaded them with leather thonging, sticking it to itself before the next step.

I then used 3mm double sided tape and wound a 3mm yellow ribbon along the shaft to cover the washi, tucking the string end back under itself using a fine quilling tool. To ensure this doesn't come apart I painted the whole ribbon bit, and up along the string, with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam which acts as a glue and dries to a gorgeous shiny gold sparkle.

I tied all the feathers to the bottom of the dream catcher using a half hitch knot and reinforced the knot with Glimmer Glam. I left the tails of the leather thonging long and glued some bright orange feathers onto them, covering the join with beads (and glue down the middle). The tails of string I cut short.

And this is the final product. Took me a while but I seriously love it!

Oh challenges,to get that creative flow going, well that ain't really my thing.
That said,I have been creating pieces, and this sorta kinda fits the challenge, minus the colour palette.

Aww this is my eldest with her first real boyfriend, ain't they cute?
To highlight this photo I have used this awesome WOW barbed wire frame that
I firstly gave a quick coat of Dina Wakely sky acrylic paint ,
then embossed with Colour Blast embossing powder

For the background,I used a 6x6 WOW Chevron Alta Matz ,
with some Deep Water Colour Blast coloured textured paste.
LOVE the thick shimmery Chevron.

oh and its a long shot, but my quote ,made up of words and sticker, goes like this.

"love this ! selfie
